The Castello (castle), one of the most famous monument in Milan, has seen long historical vicissitudes during the past years. It was demolished, then rebuilt several times, embellished and restored to become a symbol of both happy and dramatic events that are to be found in the historical background of the city. Over the centuries, the castle has been a defense fortress, a residence, military barracks and the site of museums and it does represents an integral part of the city cultural heritage.
Today the castle is home to the Civic Museums and since 1896, it has hosted one of the vastest artistic collections in the city. With your dog you are allowed to enter and walk inside the walls, sitting on the grass admiring the cosmopolitan crowd, snap some nice pictures or a “selfie” for our Facebook page. But unfortunately you are still not allowed to enter the museums. As you shouldn’t miss the chance to visit one of “the symbol of Milan”, we will help you to make it happen. You can easily CLICK HERE and book a professional dog sitter. You will have the chance to plunge into culture, visit the Triennale, while your 4-legged friend is having fun at Parco Sempione. PAWesome isn’t it ?
Today Piazza Castello is also hosting the “Expo Gate” (information & meeting point), a disputed and futuristic building which can be considered the virtual gate to Expo.
