It’s early evening and you are strolling around with your furry friend; it’s not dinner time yet, but you need to do something to keep your stomach quite for a while, better with a glass of prosecco. Café Madeira might be the place you want to “check it out” not only for the original aperitivo, but also because it’s a“bark friendly” place. It could also be the chance to discover a new area populated more by “locals” than tourists. Connecting Porta Romana to Porta Venezia, Via Montenero is a nice “6 legged” walk, with a number of small restaurants, bars, shops … and if you feel a bit lazy you can always opt for the tram.

This little spot offers a rich aperitivo and original plates you will not find in other similar places. You can fetch the light bites such as fried veggies, panini, ham, cheese or sausage (you might want to share a bit with your furry friend … happy tummy …happy puppy!). If you fancy some “serious” stuff, there are many kinds of pasta, couscous, rice salad and (for vegetarian friends) a nice selection of vegetable dishes. However (… just for you to know…), one thing you shouldn’t miss here are the sweets! Yes … Café Madeira offers, for the price of aperitivo, some “real” and traditional desserts such as tiramisu, chocolate cake (including some healthy seasonal fruits) but the “top of the top” is  the profiteroles which taste PAWesome (it’s a shame you cannot share it with your furry friend … but never forget … his health comes first … his “atavic hunger” only second). Considering the buffet is huge, then 2 simple “rounds” won’t probably satisfy your “appetite for destruction” and you will immediately forget that you are on a diet once you decide to go for the “third one”.

Though the interior is very nice, the summer dehor is always highly requested (also during the winter thanks to the heating lamps) and it might not be easy to get a seat … unless you scoop the crowd arriving a few minutes before 7pm.

Madeira is also organizing special aperitivo nights to have fun DOGether and collect funds in favour of those little furry friends who are not so lucky and need our help. Another good reason to choose this place for a “6 legged” aperitivo. Give it a go !
